David started racing at an early age at Hattiesburg Drag Strip. He worked with his family checking cars. Then he got his own drag car and went racing with his dad and uncle.

David went to college for machine shop and graduated. After he graduated he went to work for Paul Vanderley in Biloxi, Ms.

In 1992 David McMurtry opened his own shop and has been involved in all types of racing form Dirt, Bracket Racing, to Mud Drag.
